If you're visiting Christchurch over a weekend, you can enjoy shopping at popular markets at Riccarton House (central city) and Riccarton Racecourse (western city). These lively markets are patronised by Christchurch locals and visitors alike and feature fresh local produce, live entertainment, food stalls and more. A great opportunity to rub shoulders with real Kiwis and enjoy the weekend in the same way they do.

Christchurch Markets
Each of these markets has a distinctive atmosphere, they are not just 'apples and more apples'.
- Riccarton House Farmers' Market - The Saturday market at Riccarton House is primarily a farmers' market, with an emphasis on high quality, local produce such as: meat, wine, chocolates - even posh porridge. it is is a great opportunity to meet the local growers, bakers, wine makers, brewers, butchers and farmers and sample their products.
- Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market - New Zealand's largest outdoor market opens its gates every Sunday, no matter what the weather, between 9am and 2pm. It is well worth getting up for as it includes over 300 vendors selling pretty much anything: fresh fruits and vegetables, second-hand goods, furniture, clothing, art, plants, trees, food and drinks. Lots of entertainment including live music and rides for the children.
